The Le Mans racetrack is not just another Sunday drive through the park in your grandfather’s Oldsmobile. This is a demanding circuit located in the town of Le Mans, France.
Le Mans is recognized as a beast for it fast straights and tight corners, and if you come to race on this track mister, you better bring your A Game because the track will certainly put you to the test.
What Makes Le Mans Such A Challenging Track
Le Mans has been the site of some of the most thrilling and memorable races in history.
The Le Mans circuit is 13.6 km long and is an interesting combination of public roads and dedicated sections of the course itself. Features of the track include long Mulsanne Straight where cars hit their top speeds in a shrill crescendo of raw horsepower and pure engineering ingenuity.
If that was not enough to bring you out of your seat (and running for the nearest sound-proof bunker), you won’t want to miss the twist and turns provided free of charge by several tricky chicanes. If you don’t have the skill and precision (and a fresh set of tires), then this part of the racing course might be your greatest nemesis.
Le Mans Racetrack asks one simple thing of you: come at me with everything you’ve got. In return, I’ll show you 24 hours of fantastic speeds, phenomenal track features, and a 24-hour festival of fatigue-inducing, fan-fueled excitement!
The List of All Points on the Le Mans Racetrack
- Start/Finish Line: Stomp on the gas pedal, we are racing!
- Dunlop Curve: The first major turn on the track, the Dunlop Curve, is a left-hand tire shredder that sets you up for the first long straightaway.
- Dunlop Chicane: After the Dunlop Curve comes a chicane that requires drivers to brake hard and navigate a left-right sequence of turns. You also better get some fresh tires ready because this is where the rubber really meets the road.
- Tertre Rouge: This right-hand turn wants to make sure you are paying attention at all times. Known for its high-speed corners, you better take this one on an empty stomach.
- Mulsanne Corner: A left-hand turn that leads into the Mulsanne Straight and keeps you up at night.
- Mulsanne Straight: Welcome to one of the most famous sections of the track, known for pants-wettingly fast speeds and a long stretch of open throttle time and space. Before the fun is over, please find a small kink known as the “kink of Mulsanne” – we just want to make sure your blood pressure can still go a little higher.
- Indianapolis: When you get to Indianapolis turn, tighten your gloved-grip on the steering wheel and get ready to duck into a quick series of corners.
- Arnage Corner: Whew! let’s relax with a slow left-hand turn shall we? This corner requires drivers to brake hard and dive into a tight bend.
- Porsche Curves: The Porsche Curves are sexy and not because they have the Porsche name, but because they are a series of high-speed turns that demand your ultimate precision along a fine racing line.
- Ford Chicane: Just zip through the tight left-right turn of the Ford Chicane and you will find yourself on the straightaway heading for winner’s lane
- Karting: Even Mario loves to go karting, but here, it’s just Karting, a place inside Bugatti Circuit that lets you go kart racing.
- Garage Vert: Nothing much to see here. Just a right-hand turn that leads into a quick series of corners before you head bcak onto the main circuit.
- Chemin aux Boeufs: I feel the need. The need for Chemin aux Boeufs speed. This is a high-speed section that leads into the Mulsanne Straight.
- Esses du Tertre Rouge: If you said this three times fast it would still be easier than mastering this series of left-right turns that take you into the Tertre Rouge corner.
- Hunaudières: Very simple. Long Straightaway. You will go very fast.
- Corvette Corner: Named for the Corvette Racing team, mainly because they have had several victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
- S Bleu: You are almost to the Dunlop Curve, but first, please sample these little left-right turns.
- Garage Bleu: Follow the Dunlop Chicane and you’ve found yourself at Garage Bleu.
- Raccordement: A connection point between the Bugatti Circuit and the main circuit. It’s all about a left-hand turn and a short straightaway.
- Virage de Mulsanne: Your last turn before you enter the long straightaway, so better pack a lunch.
- Tavannes Straight: A short straightaway that connects the Porsche Curves to the Ford Chicane. Short and sweet.
